My name is Karina. I am 26 years of age. I am a nurse in one of the major hospitals in Lekki area of Lagos.

And I am pure bad luck. Especially when it comes to love.

Sometimes, I think I am cursed to bring destruction upon every man who comes in contact with me romantically!

I am going to start my story from when I lost my v!rg!n!tyy. I was exactly 17 years of age and amongst my friends at the time, I was the only one who still walked about with her v!rg!n!tyy intact. And the pressure to lose it was so great amongst my friends and so it was easier for me to decide to give it to Luke, the son of our church pastor and the only young man who ever looked my way.

He was the only man who looked at me as if I was a woman or had a v@g!n@ between my th!gh$. While my friends had tons of boys rushing them from when we became 13, no boy ever came to me to ask me out or even try to fondle me like they did to my friends.

I didn’t take any of that too seriously until I became 16 and realized I was alone in the kingdom of v!rg!n!ty! Alone! Even Felicia, the ugliest girl in our street, had lost her v!rg!n!ty at age 14 and I was still carrying mine like a heavy bag at 16.

So you can imagine my joy when Luke came forward with readiness to take my v!rg!n!ty away from me on my 17th birthday. He was 19.

But it turned out to be the worst day of my life!

Luke had taken me to the back of his father’s car that night where he had torn through my h¥m3n and made me a woman. So while he stood away from me and cleaned himself up with his handkerchief, I was still busy wiping off the blood that had trickled down the sides of my laps and doing my best to forget the pains that was wracking through my body at the way Luke had torn through me when he screamed loudly as if someone had stabbed him.

I turned to ask him what was wrong and he screamed again that he had been bitten by a snake. With horror in my eyes, I turned to see a snake sliding off into the darkness. Luke screamed again and fell to the ground grabbing his leg. I didn’t know what to do. Before I could even think properly, I heard loud noises coming from inside the house and Luke’s father and mother with some other people I can’t remember, rushed out towards us and with fear in my eyes, I ran away.

I ran away because I was scared!

I had barely got home when Luke’s father charged into our house and surprised my parents when he accosted me for almost killing his son. Shame washed over me as everyone got to know that I had lost my v!rg!n!ty that night.

Fortunately, Luke didn’t die. But he became an extremely angry person after that incident and the whole situation caused so much problems between my family and his that he had to be sent off to the village.  He died three years later after falling from a tree in his village.

His family, and even mine, never forgave me for his death.

I moved on. To the North. I needed a change of environment and life.

I moved to Kano with a girlfriend, Cindy. Cindy was born and bred in Kano and when she visited Lagos at some point after I had finished my secondary school and spent time doing nothing in Lagos, I begged her to take me along with her to Kano and she accepted.

I was overjoyed. Nobody loved me in Lagos. Maybe Kano would give me something better. And I was 20 years of age at this time.

I got to Kano and immediately got a job in a very big supermarket as a sales girl. That was where I was when Effiong came into my life.

Effiong was extremely handsome and cute in this sweet way. I fell head over heels in love with him from the first moment I saw him. I didn’t hesitate the moment he asked me out because I needed a man in my life at the time.
