Arsenal remain in the market for new signings this summer as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his squad
Arsenal remain busy in the transfer market as Mikel Arteta seeks to reshape his squad. The Gunners are recruiting as reigning Premier League champions and have already made a couple of noteworthy additions this summer.
Bruno Guimaraes has finalised his £75million switch from Newcastle United. The Brazilian was a pivotal figure for the Magpies across several seasons and will improve the Gunners’ midfield, with the 28-year-old hungry to claim silverware at Arsenal.
“I want to win trophies, I want to make history, and I think I’m in the right place to do it,” he told the club’s website. “I’m so excited to start. We have tough games to play this season, so the squad is going to be very, very important and I’m hopeful we can achieve our dreams.”

Guimaraes joins winger Christos Tzolis as Arsenal’s headline signings of the summer so far. The Gunners have also been linked with potential moves for Juventus winger Kenan Yildiz and Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez. football.london examines some of the most significant transfer stories surrounding the club.
Julian Alvarez transfer update
Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has reaffirmed the club’s position regarding Julian Alvarez’s future. Arsenal have been strongly linked with a move for the Argentina international throughout the summer window.
Alvarez has made no secret of his wish to leave Atletico this summer, with Barcelona reportedly his preferred destination. Yet his manager has made clear that the situation has not changed and that Atletico have no intention of letting Alvarez go.
“The situation is very clear, the club made a decision that Miguel Angel Gil Marin [Atletico’s CEO] explained very well,” Simeone said. “We are very happy with Julian, from a sporting perspective, we’re very happy to have a player like Julian, and we’ll help him continue to grow and improve.”
£85m target back on radar
Arsenal are reportedly weighing up a renewed attempt to sign Juventus winger Yildiz. The Gunners are still in the market for wide options after failing to secure a deal for Vinicius Junior, who has put pen to paper on a new six-year contract with Real Madrid.
According to The Times, Arsenal are considering reviving their interest in Yildiz, having made an initial approach earlier this summer. The 21-year-old is reported to have been on the Gunners’ radar since last season.

However, Juventus are reportedly reluctant to cash in on the Turkey international, who is under contract with the club until 2030. The Metro adds that the Italian giants were demanding in the region of £85m for Yildiz when Arsenal and other Premier League clubs registered their interest last summer.
Yildiz has been at Juventus since making the switch from Bayern Munich’s academy in 2022, contributing 11 goals in 47 appearances across all competitions last season.
