The Christian movie industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of gospel actor Oluwasegun Oyeyemi, who became widely known for playing Flora’s husband in the popular Mount Zion film series, Abattoir.
The news of his death was made public on Wednesday through an Instagram post by the Bowen University Alumni Association.
The association did not reveal what led to his death but described him as a respected alumnus, drama minister and a man whose life touched many people through Christian ministry.

The association also appealed to alumni to remember the late actor’s family in their prayers, asking God to give them strength, comfort and peace during this period of grief.
It further encouraged members living in Ibadan and nearby areas to attend his burial and join in paying their last respects.
According to details on the burial announcement, a Service of Songs will take place in Ibadan on Thursday, July 2, while he will be laid to rest on Friday, July 3, at the Garden of Saints Cemetery.
Those attending have been asked to wear white clothing.
Oyeyemi featured in several productions by Mount Zion Faith Ministries apart from Abattoir.
He appeared in films such as Fiwajomi, Seyifunmi, Olukoya and Finding Grace.
Throughout his acting career, he became known for playing Christian characters and using films to spread the gospel message.
His death has once again brought attention to the growing number of losses linked to the Abattoir cast in recent years.
In February 2025, actress Toluwalope Adegboyega-Alagbe, who played Flora in Abattoir and acted as Oyeyemi’s on-screen wife, died from injuries she suffered in a road accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on December 26, 2024.
The crash also claimed the life of one of her two-year-old twin daughters.
Oyeyemi’s passing also comes after the death of another Abattoir actor, Moses Korede Are, popularly known as Baba Gbenro, who died in 2024.
