Bandits in Kaduna State have reportedly murdered a woman who was said to be due for child delivery.

The incident was said to have taken place on Sunday, January 25 along the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari highway.

The suspected armed bandits reportedly attacked and opened fire on a commercial vehicle traveling through the route and killed the woman who is said to be a health worker.

Newspot understands that the tragic event happened while the she was heading to Kaduna from Birnin Gwari at a place called Zankoro before Unguwar Yako on Sunday.

The deceased’s cousin Aliyu Mahmud who confirmed the incident to Daily Trust via phone revealed the name of the victim as Aisha Yusuf.

Mahmud described the deceased as a dedicated volunteer health worker in Birnin Gwari community.

He said: ” She was eight months pregnant but very hardworking and dedicated to her work at the PHC where she works in Birnin Gwari. Most of the people in this community liked her a lot because of her commitment to work even though she is a volunteer worker,”

When contacted, the State Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Jalige, promised to call the Divisional Police Officer of the area to acquire details before commenting.
