Segun Oluwayomi, the third child and first son of five children born to Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Ajayi Ogunyomi in Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria, is an award-winning, renowned gospel saxophonist. He attended St Barnabas Primary School, Ilorin (1980 to 1986) and Government Secondary School, Ilorin (1986 to 1992). He went ahead to study Music at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

Segun converted his passion for music into a profession, and in eleven years, he excelled immensely. In 1996, he met the Lord during a concert and received a mandate to use his gift to glorify God and bless lives.

Segun Oluwayomi has grown into a dynamic vessel that God is using. He stands out from the crowd due to his unconventional approach to worshipping God. His major aspiration is to please the Lord with his Saxophone, blending both traditional and contemporary music. He resorts to his heritage and entertains God with his language, rich in words. He believes that communicating with God and praising Him in your native language is the most effective way to connect with Him.

Segun Oluwayomi has expanded his dynamic ministry beyond the borders of Nigeria. He has traveled to Europe, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, and parts of Eastern Africa. He is the organiser of the “Downtown Praise“, an outreach programme which runs every quarter since 2014. This outreach aims to bring Jesus to the streets, with a particular emphasis on reaching out to drug users and social misfits.

Since its inception, Downtown Praise has taken place in two prominent locations: beneath the iconic Ikeja bridge and in Ipodo, both of which are notorious for sheltering this group of people. Many lives have been saved thus far, and Jesus is being exalted.

Andrew Eze, a former prisoner, and drug addict was converted at one of these outreaches. He is now a presiding pastor at a Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) branch in Delta State and goes by the name of Pastor Andrew Eze.
