A diesel tanker fell off Otedola Bridge and exploded on the Berger-bound section of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway on Monday evening.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service had deployed a team to the scene to contain the fire.
Motorists were rerouting to avoid the affected section of the expressway.

In an X post, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) said two casualties were recorded in the fire incident.
The agency said the incident had caused a traffic congestion in the area, adding that firefighters were battling the inferno while emergency responders attended to the victims and made arrangements to take them to the hospital.
LASTMA said its personnel were also managing traffic around the affected corridor to ensure road safety and minimise disruption.
“Two casualties were recorded, while the incident has resulted in traffic congestion around the affected location,” the post reads.
“Firefighters are on the scene battling the inferno, while emergency responders are attending to the situation and making arrangements to convey the victims to the hospital.
