A two-day international conference on African Political Economy 2 (ACAPE2) and Regional Integration in Africa 12 (ACRIA12) kicks off virtually tomorrow, Saturday, October 22. The theme of the conference is “Policy Options for Africa’s Sustainable and Inclusive Growth and Development”.

The conference is being organized by the African Political Economy Association (APEA), in partnership with the IUPUI Committee on African Studies, West African Institute for Financial and Economic Management (WAIFEM), West African Monetary Institute (WAMI), West African Monetary Agency (WAMA), and the Foundation for Economic Research and Training (FERT).

The two-day virtual event will be hosted by Juliet Elu, Morehouse College, Maimuna John-Sowe, West African Monetary Institute, and Dele Omosegbon, Indiana Univ/Indiana Wesleyan University.

Opening Addresses will be delivered by

  • Baba Musa, Director General, West African Institute for Financial and Economic Management, WAIFEM
  • Olorunsola Olowofeso, Director General, West African Monetary Institute, WAMI
  • Akpan H. Ekpo, University of Uyo, Chairman, Foundation for Economic Research and Training (FERT)
  • Oladele Omosegbon, Indiana University/Indiana Wesleyan University, President, APEA

Goodwill Messages are expected to be received from the Director General, of the West African Monetary Agency, WAMA, Emmanuel Pinto Moreira, Director of the Country Economics Department, African Development Bank, AfDB, and Njuguna Ndungu’u, Director/CEO of the African Economic Research Consortium, AERC, while the Keynote Address on the Pathway for ECOWAS Towards the 2050 Agenda, will be delivered by Abiodun Folawewo of the University of Ibadan.
