1. WE ARE SERVING A LIVING GOD

I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

2. THE DEAD CANNOT PRAISE GOD

THANKSGIVING

• Psalm 26 v 7

That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all thy wondrous works.

And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing.

• Jonah 2 v 9

But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD.

• Psalm 69 v 30

I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.

• 1 Thess. 5 v 18

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

• Col. 3 v 17

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

For the LORD shall comfort Zion: he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the LORD; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

• Colossians 4 v 2

Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;

SECTION B

THINGS TO REMEMBER WHEN PRAISING AND THANKING GOD

1.​THANK AND PRAISE HIM UNCONDITIONALLY

Habakkuk 3 v 17 – 19

v.17 Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:

v. 18 Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.

v.19 The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.

• God might have not done everything for you but He has done many things or He has done some things, so thank Him for all that He has done.

2.​ALWAYS GIVE THANKS TO GOD

1 Thess. 5 v 18

“In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”

• “Remember the Hebrew word TEHILA meaning Giving God Praise at your lowest ebb”

• Don’t ever allow situations and circumstances define

3.​OFFER SACRIFICE WILLINGLY

Lev. 22 v 29

And when ye will offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving unto the LORD, offer it at your own will.

• Don’t wait until a need is announced in your father’s house before you give

• Be willing always and don’t give grudgingly

4.​ALWAYS RETURN TO APPRECIATE GOD

Luke 17 v 15 – 17

v.15  – “And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,”

v.16  – “And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.”

v.17 – “ And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?”

• Ten Lepers healed

• One returned to glorify God

• Jesus made a remark

• Perfection of the Miracle

5.​DON’T MOCK PRAISES/DANCERS/SINGERS

2 Sam. 6 v 20 – 23

v.20 “Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel to day, who uncovered himself to day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncoverethhimself!”

v.21 “And David said unto Michal, It was before the LORD, which chose me before thy father, and before all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel: therefore will I play before the LORD.”

v.22 “And I will yet be more vile than thus, and will be base in mine own sight: and of the maidservants which thou hast spoken of, of them shall I be had in honour.”

v.23 “Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no child unto the day of her death.”

• Michal the daughter of Saul mocked King David – the dancer

• She became barren forever

6.​GIVE QUALITY SACRIFICE

Psalm 50 v 14 & 15

v.14“Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High

v.15 And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.

• Quality sacrifice provokes an urgent intervention

• Qualifies you for an Urgent Visitation.

7.​THANK GOD FOR THE GIFT OF LIFE

Psalm 103 v 1  22

v.1 “Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

v.Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

v.Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

v.Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;

v.5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

v.The LORD executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.

v.He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.

v.The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.

v.He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.

v.10 He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.

v.11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.

v.12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

v.13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him.

THE TEN LEPPERS

• Luke 17 v 11 – 19

v.11 – “And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.”

v.12 – “And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:”

v.13 – “And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.”

v.14 – “And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.”

v.15 – “And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,”

v.16 – “And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.”

v.17 – “ And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?”

v.18 – “There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.”

v.19 “And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.”
