In order to streamline the admission process into the nation’s tertiary institutions and reduce irregularities, the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has ordered higher institutions in Nigeria, including universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education, to stop selling part-time, distance learning, and other alternative admission forms.

In a tweet on Thursday, JAMB stated that all admissions into first-degree, National Diploma, National Innovation Diploma, and the Nigeria Certificate in Education, full-time or part-time, must now be processed through JAMB.

JAMB said the directive would be enforced through the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), the National Universities Commission (NUC), and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

The board, however, did not give a reason for the new directive, This is coming when many institutions are rounding off their academic sessions and opening their portals to admission seekers.

It also comes weeks after President Bola Tinubu signed the student loan bill into law.

The statement partly read: “All applications of admissions to First Degree, National Diploma, National Innovation Diploma and the Nigeria Certificate in Education into Full-Time, Distance Learning, Part-Time, Outreach, Sandwich, etc., must be processed ONLY through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
