The Main Organising Committee (MOC) of the Late Taiwo Ogunjobi Memorial U-15 Football Competition has been inaugurated.
Conducting the inauguration, 1st Vice President of Nigeria Football Federation and Coordinator of the southwest zone, Seyi Akinwunmi charged members of the MOC to organise a first-of-its-kind, world-class youth football competition and awards night in honour of the departed player and sports administrator.
Barrister Akinwunmi charged the committee led by Otunba Tade Azeez and Otunba Dele Ajayi to deliver on the task of delivering a world-class event as well as ensuring it is of a standard worthy of the name and legacy of late Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi.
Akinwunmi expressed confidence in the MOC members reiterating that the motive behind the organisation of the football competition and awards night is to honour the memory of the late Taiwo Ogunjobi who was a player, administrator, FA Chairman, NFF Secretary-General and a member of Western Nigeria Football Forum until his passing.
The Lagos State FA boss noted that Ogunjobi’s name would be immortalized in recognition of his contributions to the growth of football in Nigeria’s South West and in the country at large.
Akinwunmi said “leadership is about legacy, that is why the competition and awards night is single-mindedly centred around football and our desire to immortalize late Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi. We, therefore, expect a world-class event that will stand out in the history of Football in our country.”
The event is expected to hold between August 16 and 21, 2022 in Osogbo, Osun State.
Other members of the MOC are Oba James Odeniran, Mr. Bayo Olanlege, Dr. Bayo Oluwatoki, and Chief Mustapha Razaq –Chairman, Local Organizing Committee.
The rest are Mr Niyi Alebiosu, Mr Dotun Coker, Mr Toyin Ibitoye, Mr Taiwo Odebunmi, Mr Akintunde Akinsemola and Mr Sola Ogunowo (Secretary).
