Born to the esteemed family of Mr. Moses and Mrs. Agnes Akinterinwa in Ile-Oluji town, Ondo State, Wale’s journey towards excellence began with his education. He attended K. Kotun Memorial Nursery and Primary School in Surulere, Lagos, before gaining admission to Government College Ibaan in 1974. During his time at GCI from 1974 to 1981, he obtained both his WASC and HSC qualifications. Continuing his academic pursuits, he went on to study Accountancy at the University of Ife, now known as Obafemi Awolowo University, where he graduated with a BSc (Hons) degree in 1986.
Wale’s professional journey commenced in 1988 when he served his National Youth Service with the United Bank for Africa (UBA) plc. He then worked as an Accountant at Afro Continental Nigeria Limited. From 1999 to 2002, he held the position of Special Assistant on Finance, Investment, and Strategy to the Managing Director at the Lagos State Development and Property Corporation (LSDPC).
Between 2003 and 2009, Wale assumed the role of Executive Vice Chairman at Gideon Trust Investment Limited. He also served on the Board of Gideon Trust Microfinance Bank Limited and as a Non-Executive Director of Emergent Power Energy Development Company Limited. With a corporate finance background and over 28 years of experience, his expertise spans managerial, strategic, finance, and accounting domains. Throughout his career, Wale has excelled in investment banking, project finance management, venture capital, real estate development, finance and management consulting, and public sector engagement.
Wale Akinterinwa’s leadership and entrepreneurial prowess have been instrumental in implementing strategic initiatives that have consistently improved the financial fortunes and market operations performance of private and public organizations. He has played a crucial role in the restructuring and repositioning of government parastatals, transforming them into efficient, productive, and profitable entities. Notably, his contributions to the restructuring and reorganization of the Lagos State Property Development Corporation have led to the creation of government housing estates that have transformed the landscape of Lagos State.

His dedication to excellence and prudent financial management led to his appointment as the Commissioner for Finance of Ondo State. Under his watch, the state’s internally generated revenue (IGR) has experienced steady growth. Notably, he successfully led the restructuring of the state’s Development Bond, providing additional funds to support the state’s development initiatives.
Wale Akinterinwa is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and has actively pursued continuous professional development through various courses on banking, finance, leadership, management, and strategic planning, both domestically and internationally.
