Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on Friday arrived at the Rivers State House of Assembly Quarters Auditorium to present the 2026 Appropriation Bill to lawmakers for consideration and approval.

The governor was seen arriving at the Assembly complex in a live broadcast aired by Africa Independent Television before proceeding into the auditorium, where members of the House have been holding sittings.

The budget presentation comes days after the House approved the stateโ€™s 2026โ€“2028 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework, clearing the way for the governor to lay the 2026 appropriation bill before lawmakers.

The Assembly has been sitting at its Quarters Auditorium since its legislative chamber was damaged during the political crisis that engulfed the state about three years ago.

The presentation also follows months of uncertainty over the stateโ€™s 2026 budget amid the prolonged face-off between Governor Fubara and the Martin Amaewhule-led House of Assembly.

The delay had prompted debate after President Bola Tinubu, during the state of emergency in Rivers State, presented the stateโ€™s budget to the National Assembly for approval following the appointment of Ibok-Ete Ibas as sole administrator.

However, the governorโ€™s appearance before the Assembly on Friday is seen as the latest step following the recent reconciliation between Fubara and the lawmakers, raising expectations of improved cooperation between the executive and legislative arms of government in the state.
