The Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas Limited, in collaboration with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, has announced the successful completion of the Train 7 Project Human Capital Development Advanced Training Programme at its plant complex in Finima, Bonny Island — marking a major milestone in its Nigerian Content development commitment.

The HCD initiative, implemented under the guidance of the NCDMB, is a Federal Government programme designed to build capacity within the oil and gas industry in line with the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development Act’s provisions on human capital development.
According to a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Friday by the NLNG’s General Manager, External Relations and Sustainable Development, Sophia Horsfall, a total of 122 trainees participated in the three-month on-the-job training at the NLNG facility.

The participants, drawn from both graduate and vocational categories, had earlier completed basic HCD training programmes before being approved by the NCDMB for the advanced phase.
The programme focused on developing technical expertise in plant and facility management, among other competencies, positioning participants for future opportunities within the oil and gas industry.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, NLNG’s Train 7 Project Director, Ali Uwais, represented by Joshua Anemeje, Train 7 Project Corporate Liaison Manager, described the programme as a testament to the resilience, discipline, and growth of the trainees.
“This programme is about building a new generation of Nigerian professionals who will shape the oil and gas sector for decades to come. Its successful completion with a zero-incident safety record reflects not only your dedication but also NLNG’s uncompromising culture of ‘Safety First and Always’ and operational excellence,” he said.
Uwais commended the NCDMB for its strategic partnership in driving Nigerian Content targets and capacity development, as well as the training partners, Candix Engineering Nigeria Limited, AOS Orwell, Arco Marine and Engineering Limited, Dover Engineering, and Amaiden Energy Nigeria Limited, for ensuring a world-class training experience.

Also speaking, NCDMB’s General Manager, Human Capital Development, Esueme Dan Kikile, expressed delight at the successful conclusion of the programme, noting that it had produced a pool of skilled, globally competitive professionals knowledgeable in key areas such as instrumentation, electrical, mechanical, fabrication, lifting and rigging, and preventive and corrective maintenance.
He described the Train 7 Project as one of the largest gas infrastructure developments in Africa, emphasising its role in job creation and the grooming of young Nigerians with advanced technical and managerial competencies.
“This training provided hands-on experience on a live LNG project that complemented academic and theoretical knowledge. It exposed participants to advanced technical disciplines, project management, health and safety, and emerging technologies critical to the future of the industry,” Kikile said.
He revealed that 27 trainees received special recognition awards for outstanding performance, with six exceptional participants offered automatic employment by AOS Orwell, one of the training partners.
Kikile commended NLNG and its partners for their continued commitment to Nigerian Content development, citing several ongoing initiatives between the Board and NLNG to further deepen local content in the oil and gas sector.
