Tragedy As Vice Principal Killed, Students Reportedly Abducted in Bandit Attack

Residents of Iluke Bunu in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State have been thrown into mourning following a deadly attack by suspected bandits that reportedly resulted in the death of a vice principal and the abduction of several students.

According to local reports, the victim, identified as Mr. Gani Anifowose, Vice Principal of Government Secondary School, Iluke, was killed during the attack, which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday.

The incident has heightened fears among residents and renewed concerns about the security situation in parts of Kogi State, particularly in rural communities vulnerable to criminal attacks.

Sources within the community said panic spread across the area as armed assailants reportedly invaded the community, causing residents to flee for safety. The attack has left many families worried about the safety of their loved ones and the future of educational activities in the area.

In a related development, several students from neighbouring communities who were reportedly on their way to sit for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) English Language paper were said to have been abducted during the security breach.
