Senator Nicholas Tofowomo has built no fewer than eight solar-powered boreholes across rural communities within his senatorial district in Ondo state. The lawmaker who represents Ondo South in the National Assembly made this known in a statement issued by his Media Aide, Mr. Olumide Akinrinlola, on Monday.

Tofowomo said that the projects, which began simultaneously in communities in three out of six local government areas of Ile Oluji/Okeigbo, Odigbo, and Irele, would be inaugurated soon.

Four boreholes were built in Ore and Agbabu communities in the Odigbo council area, two in Ile-Oluji town in Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo LGA, with the other two in Akotogbo and Otu communities and Irele LGA.

According to him, the gesture was aimed at providing potable water for rural dwellers, where there was very little or no access to electricity.

He added that it would also relieve the people from spending money on fuel to power generators to pump water where boreholes were available.

Meanwhile, Tofowomo said that the second phase of the project would commence in communities in the remaining three council areas of Okitipupa, Ilaje and Ese-Odo.

“In a bid to bring succour to our constituents, we have completed three solar-powered boreholes in three rural areas in three LGAs, which is the first phase and which will be inaugurated soon. “The gesture is to provide potable water for rural dwellers and relieve them of the stress of having to fuel their generators to pump water.

“We will also begin construction of other projects in the three council areas, which will be the second phase, for more constituents to enjoy dividends of democracy.

However, he said that the constituents would be notified of the beneficiary communities in the other three council areas as soon as the contractors that would handle the projects were ready.
