President Bola Tinubu has nominated four national commissioners and two resident electoral commissioners (RECs) to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to fill vacancies arising from the expiration of tenures.
Bayo Onanuga, special adviser to Tinubu on information and strategy, announced the nominations in a statement issued on Friday.
Among the nominees, Mustapha Aliu will replace Abdullahi Zuru as the national commissioner representing the north-west, while Bashir Umar will replace Muhammad Adamu as the north-central representative.

Tinubu also nominated Oluwatoyin Babalola, the current resident electoral commissioner in Osun state, as the national commissioner for the south-west.
She is expected to replace Cornelius Ajayi, whose tenure expires on October 24.
The president reappointed Bala Bila as the national commissioner for the north-east.
For the resident electoral commissioner positions, Tinubu nominated Samuel Akinleye, a retired permanent secretary, to represent Ekiti, and Zahradden Basiru Sanusi to replace Saidu Babura from Jigawa.
Tinubu asked the senate to scrutinise the nominees’ credentials and confirm them ahead of the general election scheduled for January next year.
