A strong ally of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Sen. Adeseye Ogunlewe, has compared the impact of the former governor of Lagos State on APC to the impact of Atiku Abubakar on PDP. In a recent interview on Arise news, the APC Chieftain said it would take five years of work to “dislodge” Bola Tinubu.

While discussing the issue, Ogunlewe said, “The governors control the delegates, and it is left for “overnight” aspirants who do not know how the governors got where they are to contest. Bola Tinubu has invested a lot in APC’s structure. For anybody to dislodge him, the individual would have to work for another 5 years. It is comparable to Atiku in the PDP. It is difficult to defeat Atiku because he is an investor who has invested a lot in politics. Politicians repay investors. Investors spend a lot of money to ensure that their desired candidates win the elections as governors, lawmakers, and Councillors. How do you believe that they will listen to you when you have not invested in them?

He continues, “It is a difficult assignment.” If you are interested, it takes a 10-year program to become president. It takes 10 years of thorough investment in the party that you belong to. This makes the party members know you, believe in you and vote for you. An overnight campaign can never do any good but lead to failure.

Ademola AKINBOLA is an author, publisher, trainer, digital marketing strategist, and a brand development specialist with nearly three decades of experience in the areas of branding, communication, corporate reputation management, business development, organizational change management, and digital marketing.

He is the Founder and Head Steward at BrandStewards Limited, a brand and reputation management consultancy. He is also the Publisher of The Podium International Magazine, Ile-Oluji Times, and Who’s Who in Ile-Oluji.

He had a successful media practice at The Guardian, Punch and This Day.

He started his brand management career at Owena Bank as Media Relations Manager before joining Prudent Bank (now Polaris Bank) as the pioneer Head of Corporate Affairs.

The British Council appointed him as Head of Communication and Marketing to co-ordinate branding and reputation management activities at its Lagos, Abuja, Kano and Port Harcourt offices.
