President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Nigerians that he would perform even better than his first if re-elected for a second term.
The President made the promise through former Ogun State Governor, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, at the public presentation of the book “The NADECO Story” authored by Chief Ayo Opadokun.
Representing Tinubu, Osoba stated that the President said he should assure the gathering that he would perform even better if re-elected for a second term, particularly in implementing key political reforms.

However, Chief Osoba said Tinubu maintained that the economy and security currently remained his top priorities.
On the economy, Chief Osoba said Tinubu noted the near convergence of the official and parallel market exchange rates, saying “the naira now trades around ₦1,380 to the dollar instead of the feared ₦2,000”.
“He does not want to create confusion for those who have brought money at about ₦1,500 and other goods. He is not going to allow the Naira to get too strong,” Osoba stressed.
The event brought together prominent Nigerians including Nobel Laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka, Olubadan of Ibadanland Senator Rasheed Ladoja, Dr Olisa Agbakoba (SAN), Chief Fred Agbeyegbe, and several others.
Awards were presented to media organisations such as Vanguard, The Guardian, Punch, Concord, Tell, and The News for their roles in the pro-democracy struggle. Posthumous honours were also given to NADECO icons like Chief Michael Ajasin, Senator Abraham Adesanya, Chief Alfred Rewane, and Kudirat Abiola.
The occasion served as both a celebration of Nigeria’s democratic journey and a platform for the President to defend his administration’s reform agenda amid growing public discontent over economic hardship.
