Pastor Akintayo Ojo (B.A Hons, FCA, FCCA) is a finance professional with a specialty in management accounting and financial analysis. He later delved into project management, general management, and consulting. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN, and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in the UK respectively. He is a member of the Association of Church Accountants and Treasurers (ACAT) in the UK. A dynamic and solution-focused gentleman with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, he is the Founder/CEO of Resource Management Consultants, one of the UK’s reputable Accountancy, Tax, and Business Management Consultancy firms.

Family Background

He was born over 50 years ago to Chief Dr. Akinwale Ojo and Mrs. Rachael Folake Taiwo Ojo (nee Akintomide) both of blessed memory. His father was a former Secretary General of the Cocoa Association of Nigeria, and his mother was a teacher. They were both passionate parents and Christians.

Academic Profile

Pastor Tayo Ojo attended Ibadan Grammar School and obtained the West African School Certificate in 1983. He was admitted into the Ondo State University, Ado Ekiti in 1985 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy in 1990. He joined an Accounting firm and started Accountancy training. He passed his ICAN in 2000 and proceeded to the United Kingdom where he registered with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, completing the professional examinations in 2004.

While in the UK he attended the BPP Business School for his Accountancy training and the National School of Government in Sunningdale (now Civil Service College) for Project Management, Strategic Management, and Leadership.

In the course of his education and career, he obtained the following professional qualifications: Fellow, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), 2018; Fellow, Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA), 2010; Prince 2 Registered Practitioner (2006); Associate Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA), 2005; Associate Chartered Accountant, ACA, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, 2002, and Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy (1990).

Career History

In the UK, Pastor Tayo joined the Department for Environments, Foods, and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), and worked in the Fisheries and Wild Life Directorate, Land and Rural Management Directorate (LMRD) as well as the Financial Planning and Resources Directorate (FPRD). During his eight years at DEFRA, he held several roles starting in the Fisheries Division’s Finance Team where he was involved with business support for Fisheries Officers. His brief stay at Fisheries offered him the opportunity to visit various parts of the United Kingdom. He was involved in issuing licenses for fishermen that fished in UK waters.

He was promoted and redeployed to the Corporate Strategy Unit of the Land Management and Rural Development Directorate (LMRD) as Finance Officer/Management Accountant with responsibility for finance processing, management, and reporting. He was moved on promotion to Financial Planning and Resource Directorate (FPRD) as Deputy Financial Coordinator and Business Manager with responsibility for financial management reporting and coordinating the activities of business information liaising officers covering five divisions namely Finance Directors Division (FD), Procurements and Contracts Division (PCD), Internal Audits Division (IAD), Financial Control & Management Division (FCMD), Financial Strategy Division (FSD).

He also functioned as the Financial Analyst responsible for analyzing the financial standing of potential partners on government projects. He worked with the Treasury Team and was responsible for producing monthly and quarterly General Expenditure Monitoring Statements (GEMS) for HM Treasury. The purpose was to provide financial evidence that monies were being invested in the rural areas and spread across the different regions in the United Kingdom.

His Entrepreneurship Journey

In 2008, he resigned voluntarily to set up Resource Management Consultants Limited which specialises in Accountancy, Tax, and Business Management. The company is regulated by the HM Revenue and Customs, and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants in the UK. The Resource Management Group consists of Resource Management Consultants and the Resource Accountancy Practice. Both firms are registered with HM Revenue and Customs as Tax Agents.
