Grasshopper Club Zurich has appointed Seyi Olofinjana as its new technical director. The 40-year-old Nigerian was most recently loan-manager at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The 40-year-old Nigerian Seyi Olofinjana will take over the position of Technical Director at Grasshopper Club Zurich with immediate effect and will be responsible for the sports department. He takes over the position of interim sports director from Jimmy Berisha, who is stepping back into his role as managing director.

Olofinjana played for Stoke City, Hull City and Wolverhampton Wanderers during his playing career. After his active career, he was employed by Wolverhampton Wanderers in various roles. Most recently he was active as loan-manager at the premier league club.

The Ekiti-born footballer has played 56 times for the Super Eagles Of Nigeria and holds two master’s degrees as a sports director and project manager. Olofinjana is looking forward to starting in Zurich: “I am happy to be part of a club with a history like GC. I hope together we can re-establish GC at the top of the Super League.”

Seyi Olofinjana will arrive in Zurich in the next few days. The first thing to be dealt with will be the position of the head coach.
