A portion of the Ikwerre Local Government Council secretariat has been set ablaze, heightening tensions in the area.

This marks the second local government headquarters to be set on fire today, following the earlier arson of the Eleme Local Government Council secretariat just hours ago.

The outbreak of the fire coincided with the Inspector-General of Police’s order for officers, who had initially secured the secretariats to prevent violence, to withdraw from the facilities immediately.

So far, no arrests have been made, and the police have not released an official statement regarding the incidents.

The situation has sparked concerns about the possibility of further violence, not only in Ikwerre but across other local councils in the state.

As investigations proceed, the public is eager for more updates on this developing situation.

Today’s burning of Council headquarters is coming in the heels of Saturday’s Council Poll which was dominated by Governor Fubara’s candidates.
