Sanusi began the programme after his removal from the throne in 2020 by the then-Kano State governor, Abdullahi Ganduje.

The former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) was awarded an honorary doctorate in finance by the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London.

Sanusi’s academic journey began with a degree in economics from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) in 1981. He earned a second bachelor’s degree in Islamic studies from Africa International University in Khartoum, Sudan in 1997.

A master’s degree in economics at ABU followed.

Between 1983 and 1985, he taught economics at ABU before transitioning to a career in banking, culminating in his appointment as the governor of CBN in 2009.
