A Rwandan academic institution, the University of Kigali, has recognised a Nigerian, Prof Ogechi Adeola, for her contribution to scholarly excellence and research development.

The university honoured her as the number one researcher in Rwanda in business and management and among the top scientists in the East African country in the AD Scientific Index 2026.

The University of Kigali made this known in a LinkedIn post shared by the scholar on Thursday.

The university said the honour had added to Adeola’s global recognition “as one of the Stanford-Elsevier World’s Top 2% Scientists (2025), reflecting a sustained commitment to research excellence and scholarly impact.”

The post read, “Professor Adeola’s achievements exemplify the transformative role of research, innovation and academic leadership in advancing knowledge and addressing societal challenges.

“Her work continues to enhance the global visibility of the University of Kigali while contributing meaningfully to scholarship within Rwanda, across Africa and beyond.

“Congratulations to Professor Ogechi Adeola on this outstanding achievement and for proudly representing the University of Kigali on both the national and global academic stage.”

Adeola, who is the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research, Innovation and Enterprise) at the University of Kigali, is also a writer and marketing educator.
