The student community at Olabisi Onabanjo University, OOU, Ago-Iwoye was thrown into mourning early Thursday after robbers invaded hostels in Konigba and killed a final-year student identified simply as Timi.
According to Nigerian Tribune, the attackers stormed the area predominantly inhabited by students in the early hours and operated for several hours without intervention.

Reports indicate that about seven houses were targeted during the attack.
The robbers made off with phones, laptops, money and other valuables belonging to students.
Police were said to have arrived late at the scene.
The incident comes just months after a similar attack at the Ibogun campus of the university.

Angered by the killing and late response, students protested at the palace of the Ebuwame of Ago-Iwoye, Oba Abdulrazaq Adenugba, the Ago Police Station, and the university campus.
Vice Chancellor Professor Ayodeji Agboola urged students to remain calm and assured them that management is in contact with the Ogun State Police Command to improve security.
Management also declared Thursday a lecture-free day for students preparing for second-semester examinations of the 2025/2026 session, which begin next Monday.
In a statement signed by Deputy Registrar, Corporate Affairs Division, Niyi Oduwole, the university commiserated with students and the family of the deceased.
“While commiserating with the entire students over the demise of their colleague, the University Management expresses its heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased and assures the students that adequate security measures will be put in place in collaboration with relevant security agencies to ensure safety of life and property,” the statement read.
Management also appealed to students to exercise restraint and avoid actions that could escalate the situation.

Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi confirmed the incident and said investigation has commenced.
“The Ogun State Police Command has commenced investigation into the tragic death of an Olabisi Onabanjo University student who was shot by suspected armed robbers in Ago-Iwoye. Police operatives responded promptly and have launched a manhunt for the perpetrators,” the statement said.
The Command commiserated with the family and OOU community and prayed for the deceased’s soul to rest in peace.
