Real Madrid Make Vinicius New Contract Offer as Arsenal Prepare

Real Madrid have made a fresh contract offer to Vinicius Junior, whilst Arsenal preparing to submit a bid for the winger.

Florian Plettenberg reports that Real Madrid have now sent a counter-offer to Vinicius Junior and his camp to extend his contract. Real are hoping to reach an agreement after months of unsuccessful negotiations, and they’re aware of Arsenal’s interest in the player.

Meanwhile, Plettenberg adds that Arsenal are preparing their first official bid for the player, and they’re willing to submit it. Vinicius’ camp have been informed, so all parties await his decision.

Pete Jenson reports for the Daily Mail that Vinicius won’t return to training this week, staying away from the Real Madrid training ground while his representatives work on contract extension talks. His current deal lasts until the end of the coming 2026/27 campaign.

Vinicius had been expected to return to training on Monday, but it seems that plan has changed as speculation around his future continues.

Sami Mokbel reported for the BBC in recent days that Vinicius is viewed internally as Arsenal’s top summer target, though the club know their pursuit is a long shot.

The BBC report suggested Vinicius’ arrival would cost a minimum of £130m and involve utterly smashing Arsenal’s record for player wages. But Mokbel did add that Arsenal believe they have the financial means to fund a move.

One advantage that Arsenal have is on image rights, with the Gunners offering players very generous image rights deals in the past. That’s not the case at Real Madrid, so it’s one area where Arsenal have the greater financial incentive.

Vinicius is widely considered one of the world’s best wingers, and he had another strong season in 2025/26, scoring 22 goals for Real Madrid and assisting another 14.

Those stats include three goal contributions in three Champions League fixtures against Arsenal’s Premier League rivals Manchester City.

As for why the La Liga club would even consider letting the Brazil international go, he’s now in the final year of his contract. If he doesn’t extend, Real Madrid would likely want to sell before losing him on a free and paying out a significant loyalty bonus.
