Fuel subsidy removal has topped discussions across the country. There are mixed reactions over the announcement.

Most importantly, stakeholders in the nation’s oil and gas industry have so far commended President Tinubu’s pronouncement.
Entertainer and activist Charles Oputa, popularly called Charly Boy, also threw his weight behind fuel subsidy removal.

He wrote: “Listen and be informed. Okonjo Iweala bares it all on the subsidy removal. There can be no other time, and the time is NOW.
“My fellow Nigerians this fight is really not about Obi. It’s about the criminals who insist on stealing our national patrimony leaving us poor and hopeless”.
2. Reno Omokri

A socio-political commentator, Reno Omokri, in a tweet on his verified Twitter handle, hailed President Tinubu, stating that it is a bold move.
He also urged all opposition parties to be patriotic and support the subsidy removal
Omokri wrote, “Subsidy removal of the right move. I support it. We would have done the same thing if Waziri Atiku Abubakar had been inaugurated today.
“It is a bold move, and I urge all opposition parties to be patriotic and support subsidy removal.”
3. Ademola Adegoroye
The immediate past Minister of State on Transportation, Prince Ademola Adegoroye hailed President Tinubu for removing fuel subsidy, saying the removal was done in the interest of Nigeria to avoid total collapse of the nation’s economy.
4. Otunba Gbenga Daniel
Senator-elect representing Ogun east district, Otunba Gbenga Daniel commended President Tinubu for his courage and the political will to declare the petroleum subsidy regime over.
Daniel noted that Tinubu was the only President, who was “bold enough” to stop the petrol subsidy regime.
5. Mike Osatuyi
The National Operations Controller, Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Mike Osatuyi said that the removal was a welcome development geared towards revamping the downstream sector of the oil and gas industry.
Osatuyi reminded that Tinubu had right from the first day his campaign started, promised to remove fuel subsidy.
6. Ede Dafinone
The Senator-elect for Delta Central Senatorial District, Ede Dafinone, also hailed President Tinubu for his bold decision over fuel subsidy removal, noting that while it’s has painful effects on Nigerians, the pain will be temporary.
According to him, the long-term benefits to the country would outweigh the pain, he stressed.
Dafinone also maintained that there would never be a time fuel subsidy removal in the country would not bring about its associated but temporary pain to the citizens.
7. Muda Yusuf
The Director of the Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise (CPPE), Muda Yusuf also said that removing the petroleum subsidy would help reduce the nation’s budget deficit and borrowing appetite.
