1. THE WELFARE OF A NATION IS TIED TO ITS LEADERS

Proverbs 29 v 2

“When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan.”

• GOD COMMANDS US TO PRAY FOR THOSE IN AUTHORITY

1 Tim. 2 v 1 – 2

v.1 “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men”

v.2 “for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.”

• LEADERS NEED DIVINE WISDOM TO GOVERN RIGHTLY

James 1 v 5

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”

• AUTHORITY IS ORDAINED BY GOD

Romans 13 v 1

“Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God”

• GOOD & RIGHT LEADERSHIP WILL PROMOTE PEACE, JUSTICE AND PROSPERITY

Jeremiah 29  v 7

“And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the Lord for it; for in its peace you will have peace.”

• LEADERS MUST FEAR GOD

Proverbs 8 v 13

“The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way

And the perverse mouth I hate.”

Exodus 18 v 21

“Moreover you shall select from all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them to be rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.”

• LEADERS NEED DIVINE GUIDANCE

• LEADERS NEED DIVINE PROTECTION

v.7 “The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul.”

v.8 “The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in From this time forth, and even forevermore.”

• LEADERS NEED COURAGE AND STRENGTH

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

1. LEADERS NEED TO BE UNITED

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity”

1. LEADERS MUST EXHIBIT RIGHTOUESNESS

“Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a reproach to any people.”

1. LEADERS NEED THE SPIRIT OF GOD

Isaiah 11 v 2

“The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.”

PRAYER

1. Let’s ask for forgiveness on behalf of our leaders.
2. Let us ask God to have mercy on them in Jesus name.
3. Let us ask God to endow all our leaders with wisdom from on high in Jesus name.
4. Let us ask God to bestow on our leaders the spirit of discernment to make righteous decisions that will benefit the people in Jesus name.
5. O! Lord, let the fear of God rule in the hearts of those in authority so that they govern with integrity, justice and compassion in Jesus name.
6. O! Lord direct every decision and policy of our leaders according to your perfect will in Jesus name.
7. O! Lord protect and preserve those in authority from satanic attacks in Jesus name.
8. O! Lord grant the leaders strength and courage on daily basis in Jesus name.
9. O! Lord raise godly men and women into position of influence and authority in Jesus name.
10. We cover our leaders with the blood of Jesus in Jesus name.
11. Let the peace of God that passes all understanding be their portion in Jesus name.
12. Give thanks unto the Lord for all our Leaders in Jesus name.
