Davido has fired back at house of representatives member James Faleke following tensions surrounding Saturday’s Osun governorship election, which saw his uncle Ademola Adeleke secure re-election.

Adeleke, candidate of the Accord Party, was declared winner on Sunday morning after an overnight collation of results in Osogbo.

He polled 511,067 votes to defeat his closest rival Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who finished with 444,815 votes. Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) placed a distant third with 17,180 votes.

The war of words began after Davido accused Faleke of pressuring the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to alter the election outcome.

In a post on X, the singer alleged that the lawmaker, alongside two other APC legislators, was attempting to “upturn the election result”.

Davido further declared that the people of Osun had rejected Oyebamiji and former Governor Gboyega Oyetola, adding that he would never support the APC.

Faleke, who traveled to Osun to support his party’s candidate, denied the allegations, insisting he had no power to influence the poll outcome. He noted that his presence in the state was no different from Davido’s support for his uncle’s party.

In an X post, Davido dismissed Faleke’s response and took a swipe at his political career.

“Politics is not a career. Get a Job!” he wrote.

The singer, who has been actively involved in his uncle’s re-election campaign, also congratulated Adeleke on securing a second term as Osun governor.
