The Plateau state police command says 12 people were killed in the early hours of Friday when gunmen attacked Ngbra Zongo community in Kwall district of Bassa LGA.
Alabo Alfred, spokesperson of the Plateau police command, confirmed the incident to TheCable, adding that the victims have been buried in a mass grave.
“From the information we received, 12 people were killed in the attack and the victims had already been buried this morning,” Alfred said.

He, however, declined to give further details about the victims, while expressing deep sorrow over the attack.
Reports indicated that the attack occurred around midnight while residents were asleep, with 13 people said to have been affected, including three pregnant women.
Philip Alanga, a member of the community, said the assailants shot sporadically, forcing many residents to flee their homes.
Danjuma Auta, secretary-general of the Irigwe Development Association (IDA), noted that the recurring attacks on communities in Bassa LGA and other parts of the state.
He urged security operatives to swiftly track down those responsible for the attack and ensure justice is served and to deter further violence in the area.
