Mauricio Pochettino has committed to taking over as Chelsea’s next manager.

The Telegraph reports that Pochettino, who has a wealth of expertise in the English Premier League after leading Tottenham to the 2019 Champions League final, has accepted the role of Chelsea’s new manager, one of the most coveted in the league.

The newspaper stated that Pochettino’s contract is likely to last for three years and that an official announcement from Chelsea is expected within the next 48 hours.

“Chelsea are set to make a formal announcement on Pochettino’s arrival in the next 48 hours with Frank Lampard’s caretaker reign ending after the Newcastle game,” the paper said.

Pochettino, 51, has been jobless since being fired by Paris Saint-Germain at the end of last season

He agreed to take over Chelsea in April, but despite the team’s terrible performance, Lampard remained in that position for the remainder of the year. In the summer, Pochettino was supposed to join the squad.

Chelsea has had three different managers so far this year; the Champions League champion Thomas Tuchel was fired in September 2022. Graham Potter ruled over 31 games at Chelsea Bridge before Lampard took over as interim manager.

Nonetheless, after spending close to £600 million ($741 million) during the past two transfer windows, Chelsea has had a difficult season. Pochettino will be taking over a team that has drastically underperformed this season and is predicted to finish in the bottom half of the standings.
