Property worth millions of naira have been destroyed as a result of a fire incident that broke out at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching hospital, Ogbomoso in Oyo State.

Newspot reports that the incident occured in the early hours of Saturday.

Our correspondent gathered from sources within the hospital that the fire gutted the Emergency and Accident Unit of the hospital.

It was learnt that some office equipment, books, engines, electronic gadgets, roof and ceiling worth millions of naira were razed.

Newspot learnt that the fire outbreak started at about 5am in a paedriatrics consultant office.

A source within the hospital said that the fire incident is suspected to have started from electric spark.

It was learnt that about 16 patients had to be quickly rushed out of the ward.

Public Relations Officer of the hospital, Omotayo Ogunleye confirmed the incident to Newspot Saturday.

Ogunleye in a telephone conversation with Newspot however said that normal activities have resumed in the hospital.

He said, “Yes it is true. It is a minor incident. But, normal activities have resumed in the hospital.”
