Ondo State Government has assured its citizens to expect more palliatives to cushion the effect of subsidy removal on the sales of petroleum by the Federal Government.

The Commissioner for Finance, Mr Wale Akinterinwa, who double as the Chairman of the State Palliative Strategy and Implementation Committee gave the assurance
today during the distribution of 1200 bags of rice for the people of Ile-Oluji / Oke Igbo Local Government Area of the state.

Mr Akinterinwa stated that state government will soon commence distribution of other food items such as garri, yam flour, poundo yam among others to complement the bags of rice released by the Federal Government.

He added that more farm inputs will be given to farmers across the state to enhance food production, while tricycle will also be distributed to them for easy transportation of agricultural products from their different farms to the cities.

The Commissioner who said the distribution would be done in phase, emphasized that the food items are meant for all people resident in the Local Government irrespective of their political or religious affiliations especially the vulnerable ones identified to be the poorest of the poor.

The Commissioner, who commended the State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for the timely implementation of various measures to cushion the effect of suffering being experience by the people as a result of the petroleum subsidy removal, thanked the Governor for the confidence reposed on the members of the Committee.

He also appreciated the people of the Local Government Area for cooperating with the Committee to achieve effective distribution of the palliatives.

Also, Hon. Akinsuroju Akindolani Nelson, Ondo State House of Assembly member, representing Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo, expressed gratitude to the Federal and State government for providing the palliatives.

“As a representatives of the people, I am glad that this is happening in my Local Government. I thanked the Federal Government and the State government for providing these palliatives”. He said.

Responding on behalf of Ile Oluji Community, HRH, the Oloja of Lipanu, Oloja Isaac Akinsanmi Akinmoye appreciated the government on Ondo State and the Federal Government for the palliatives.

According to him, the people were happy because the oil subsidy removal has made it a little difficult for the people, but with this gesture, it shows that the government has feelings for the people.
