Ondo APC Reconciliation: Adu Pledges Loyalty to Party and Aiyedatiwa, Offers to Join Peace Mission

The reconciliation drive initiated by the Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) gathered momentum on Wednesday as one of the party’s senatorial aspirants, Dr. Sylvester Olumuyiwa Adu, declared that he has no grievance over the outcome of the recent APC Senatorial Primary Election and reaffirmed his unwavering support for Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.

Dr. Adu made the declaration when the Ondo State APC leadership, led by the State Chairman, Hon. Kolawole Babatunde, paid him a courtesy visit at his residence in Alagbaka, Akure, as part of the party’s ongoing post-primary reconciliation initiative.

Speaking during the visit, Babatunde said the reconciliation tour was in line with the APC’s tradition of engaging stakeholders after every primary election to strengthen internal unity, reconcile members and reposition the party ahead of future electoral contests.

He described Dr. Adu as one of the APC’s foremost grassroots leaders and a strategic stakeholder whose contributions to the growth of the party in Ondo State have remained significant.

The chairman noted that although Dr. Adu was not among those expressing dissatisfaction over the outcome of the primary election, the party considered it necessary to consult him because of his influence, political experience and commitment to the APC.

He said the support of leaders like Dr. Adu would be crucial as the party intensifies preparations to mobilise massive support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in the 2027 general elections.

Responding, Dr. Adu thanked the party leadership for the visit and reiterated that he remains fully committed to the APC, Governor Aiyedatiwa and the collective success of the party.

He insisted that he had no reason to be aggrieved over the outcome of the senatorial primary, maintaining that his political relationship with Governor Aiyedatiwa is founded on conviction, trust and divine direction.

According to him, despite receiving attractive political offers, including the promise of the deputy governorship position from other governorship aspirants during the APC governorship primary, he remained loyal to Aiyedatiwa because he believed God had directed him to support the governor.

“I received clear spiritual guidance to support Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and I followed that instruction. Leadership and political positions come only through God’s approval. It is God who elevates people,” he said.

Dr. Adu disclosed that since joining the APC, he has consistently invested personal resources in mobilising support for the party and empowering members across the state.

He urged party members to put the primary election behind them and focus on strengthening the APC ahead of future elections.

The party chieftain also stressed the need for members to channel any concerns through established party structures rather than criticising the party publicly.

While commending the reconciliation initiative, he called for greater transparency, openness and effective communication in future party activities to minimise internal disagreements.

Dr. Adu further suggested that the APC national leadership should, where necessary, clearly communicate its position on the return of serving National Assembly members seeking another term, saying such clarity would reduce unnecessary contests and the reconciliation challenges that often follow.

In a show of commitment to the peace process, he volunteered to join the reconciliation committee led by the State Chairman to engage party members who may still feel dissatisfied with the outcome of the primary election.

He also pledged to mobilise his supporters across Ondo State to remain loyal to the APC and abide by the decisions of the party.

As part of his contribution to the party’s preparations for future elections, Dr. Adu announced that he would sponsor the branding of several campaign vehicles to support the APC’s mobilisation efforts.

He concluded by reaffirming that all his efforts and contributions were aimed at promoting the unity, stability and electoral success of the APC, stressing that he remains a loyal and committed member of the ruling party.
