The Nigerian Navy Board has approved the promotion of 146 senior officers to various ranks, marking a significant milestone in the service’s leadership structure

In a statement signed by Commodore A. Adams-Aliu on Thursday, December 19, 2024, the breakdown of the promotions revealed that 24 Commodores elevated to the rank of Rear Admiral, 26 Captains promoted to Commodore and 96 Commanders advanced to Captain.

Among the officers elevated to Rear Admiral are Ibrahim Mohammed-Katsina, Suleman Dahun, Abolade Olanrele Ogunleye, and Vincent Burabari Gbaranwi, along with 20 others. These officers will now assume greater responsibilities in the service’s operations and administration.

The 26 officers promoted to Commodore include Mohammed Ahmed Abdullahi, Kabir Umar Rabiu, Uche Aneke, and Temitope Adeshola Bamidele, reflecting a commitment to bolstering leadership across various commands.

The Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, extended congratulations to the newly promoted officers and their families. He charged them to remain steadfast in their duties, loyal to the nation, and committed to the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.

The promotions underscore the Navy’s commitment to recognizing excellence and ensuring a robust leadership pipeline as it continues to safeguard Nigeria’s maritime domain.
