Nigerian-born medical doctor Chi Uzoma has been officially promoted to the prestigious rank of Captain within the United States Army Medical Corps. She was decorated with her new rank on August 9, 2026.

The promotion comes a few months after Uzoma revealed that she had been promoted to the rank of sergeant in March 2026.

Uzoma announced the achievement in a post on X on Sunday, expressing gratitude to God for the journey that led to her latest military rank.

“Today, I proudly wear the rank of CAPTAIN. The journey has been nothing short of a blessing, and I’m deeply grateful to God for every opportunity that has brought me to this moment. 🙏🎖️🪖🇺🇸Captain #Blessed #USArmy” -she posted.

Uzoma’s transition from a non-commissioned officer rank to a commissioned Captain within half a year highlights the unique, highly accelerated pathways available to specialized medical professionals within the U.S. military architecture.
