NIGERIA WE HAIL THEE
Our native land we hail thee
Revered you are among black nations
For your resilience and tenacity
And failing to crumble in the rubbles of oppression

Our people will wail but yet they see
When the good are hunted down unjustly
For stepping on toes and daring to do things right
And our nation bleeds from the dearth of nobles

Wrongs have become rights
And corruption an unwritten law
Governing every facet of our national life
From the rotten foundation of the family

Dare to be different and make more enemies
Even from the caucus of your own clan
Identify with good and godliness
And be set up for scandal and hear “crucify him”

Those who thrive on the woes of the poor
Do not want them liberated without a fight
Like slave masters they kill a fleeing servant
And accuse him of insubordination

When will your children learn O fatherland
That the triumph of evil over good is temporal
And he who oppresses the poor fight his creator
Who will back any that cares to stand in his defense

Fear not, noble minister of the people
He who divinely positioned you for this exploit
Neither sleeps nor slumber on his throne
And will see you walk triumphantly into the villa
