Chairman, Nigeria in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa OON, has said that the Commission has a significant role to play in providing adequate support to boost the ecomony of the SouthWest states, pointing out that the concept of infrastructural drive as well as the push for a smart city in Ondo State was a welcome idea and quick attention would be given to speed up the process for its implementation.

Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa made the assertion while playing host to the Commissioner, Regional Integration and Diaspora Relations, Prince Boye Ologbese alongside Director General, Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission, Dr. Seye Oyeleye and his team, during a courtesy visit in Abuja.

Hon. Dabiri-Erewa who said that Ondo State indegenes in Diaspora have been contributing their quota to the social and economic development of the State in line with the REDEEMED Agenda of the Governor, Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu SAN, CON, opined that diasporas will be encouraged to do more with the innovations underway.

She said NiDCOM would provide the necessary support to intensify efforts in facilitating the process to boost the economy so that the proposed projects can be actualised for the benefit of indegenes.

The NiDCOM boss, commended the Commissioner, Prince Boye Ologbese for his proactiveness towards the growth of the State and submitted that the Ministry will enjoy continued support from the Commission, leaving indelible imprints on the sand of time for generations to witness.

Earlier in his remarks, Prince Boye Ologbese appreciated Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa for the opportunity, saying it was necessary for such formal physical meeting with the Commission to deliberate upon feasible working documents to set in motion plans for a better economy and to ensure no stone is left unturned in actualizing the goals of the SouthWest region.

“In pursing any given project, be it long-term or short-term, time is a crucial element as well as the involvement of key players; the economic boost plan of SouthWest region through efficient power supply and effective rail system requires much effort from various sources and we cannot expect to achieve such a dream by folding our arms”

DG DAWN Commission, Dr. Seye Oyeleye remarked that Ondo State through the Ministry of Regional Integration and Diaspora Relations deserve all necessary support to fast track events saying, “Ondo State is a force in the SouthWest with readily available resources sufficient to bring about rapid change in the SouthWest region and the DAWN Commission had no other option than to throw it’s weight behind the State so as to collectively witness the transformational impacts yet to come”.

Wanting to carry everybody along in his quest to make the impact and import of the vision of Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu SAN CON visible as it concerns Regional Integration and Diaspora Relations, Prince Boye Ologbese, paid a courtesy visit to Ondo State Senator from Central Senatorial district, Senator Adeniyi Ayodele Adegbonmire SAN, in Abuja.

The Senator, commented on the Green Economy Initiative (GEI) by Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, CON, and the Diaspora Smart City which he said was a complete diversification on the economy in the global tourism practice which will positively transform the fortune of Akure. He pledged support in regards to the proposed project as the need may arise.

Similarly, Senator Adegbonmire SAN, said the Diaspora Smart City is a legacy that Arakunrin Akeredolu desires to leave behind in the State, thus the necessity to ensure proper collaborations between the Ministry of Regional Integration and Diaspora Relations as well as the National Assembly. He noted that he will ensure the project comes to reality once approved by the State Executive Council because of it’s certainty to enhance the economic growth of Akure, creation of jobs and provision of new aesthetic to the city.
