PRESS RELEASE

Today I had the honour of meeting the Students’ Union president of my alma mater, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), and I am proud to announce that New Horizons will be a major sponsor at the maiden edition of the OAU Tech Week, set to hold in May 2023. Tech Week is an initiative set up by the Students Union Government of the institution to promote awareness of technology and the vital role it plays in wealth creation.
New Horizons Nigeria is dedicated to deepening technology in Africa, especially within the context of the growing strides of Artificial intelligence (AI).
We recognise that all hands must be on deck to ensure that Africa has a place in the global technology space, and so we are pledging 150 million Naira scholarships to train 1000 students of OAU to learn in-demand IT skills in Robotic and Drones technology
In addition, New Horizons will also donate one thousand relevant ICT books to University students as a way of increasing ICT awareness

The training will take two weeks leading to some ICT projects that will be displayed during Tech Week.
Further awards will be presented to the best three students who display the most innovative models geared towards sustainable solutions to African problems.
We look forward to working with the Student Union Government in re-positioning OAU as an instruction at the cutting edge of technology.
I’m a proud graduate of OAU, and I consider it a special privilege to be able to give back to my Alma Mater which has contributed greatly to making me the person I am today.
About four years ago, I donated about 1,300 books, academic journals and magazines to the Department of International Relations Library where I graduated as part of my support to my department.

On behalf of the SUG of OAU, I am using this medium to solicit laptops for the 1000 students that New Horizons will be training. Anyone who is led to contribute to raising the next set of Africa Artificial intelligence Engineers should get in touch with me.
