The attention of coalition of Deltas in Diaspora Europe has been drawn to a post by Dr Genevieve Mordi, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on International Affairs, labelling an initiative of coalition of Delta State Indigens in Diaspora to establish a Diaspora village in Delta as a “State as a scam”.

It is shocking and shameful that Dr Genevieve Mordi, could quickly label such initiative from Deltans in Diaspora as a scam without any prior communication or discussion to ascertain the originality or seek clarification. On what basis is Senior Special Assistant to the Governor calling a private Diaspora initiative a scam? Is Dr Genevieve Mordi saying there are no Delta State indigenes in Diaspora? Or that the organisers of the arrangement cannot be involved in such business?

The coalition of Deltans in Diaspora Europe is of strong opinion that the overzealous Senior Special Assistant to the Governor should have seek clarification from us first before making such defamatory publication that has painted this Noble initiative in a bad light. The expression “scam alert” is a clear expression of crime and indication that such initiative is false and does not exist.

While other SAs across the federation are encouraging their Diasporans to bring such laudable investment to their respective states, it is expected that Dr Genevieve Mordi, thinks and work along this as envisage by the State Government and work to mobilize Delta state indigenes for homeland engagement, and not chose instead to engaging in a proxy fight on behalf of her known Diaspora pay master in Abuja

While this initiative is a purely private one initiated by a well-meaning indigenes of Delta state and supported by well-meaning Deltans in Diaspora, efforts are ongoing to partner with Delta State as evident in a letters dated 19th February 2020, with Ref: GHP/COS/T/246 copy to Hon. Kenneth Gbandi and singed by Delta State Chief of staff, Olorogun David Edevbie and another letter dated 24th March 2020 (here attached), inviting Hon. Kenneth Gbandi for a presentation on Diaspora Village and also signed by Olorugun Lucky Oghene-Omoro.

The coalition of Delta indigenes in Diaspora and friends are therefore calling on Delta State Governor H.E. Senator Dr. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa to immediately call Dr Genevieve Mordi, who posted the so called “scam Alert” from Sate House Media platform and demand from her an immediate retraction of the offensive publication and apologies.
