The LEADERSHIP Media Group has announced changes in the top cadre of the media company, with Mr. Azu Ishiekwene appointed as the senior vice chairman and Editor-in-Chief of the group.

In an internal memo dated February 17, 2021 and signed by the new Chairman and wife to the founding Chairman who died on December 11, 2020, Mrs Zainab Nda-Isaiah, noted that the new changes were made “to help the company advance the objectives of the Founding Chairman”.

According to the memo, “In consultation with the Board and family, some changes have been made

“The changes are as follows:

“Mr. Azu Ishiekwene, former Group Managing Director, with over 32 year’s media experience, has been appointed Senior Vice Chairman/Editor-In-Chief

“Mr. Mike Okpere, former Group Managing Director with over four decades experience as an Accountant, has been appointed Vice Chairman

“Mr. Muazu Elazeh retains his position as Group Managing Director

“Mr. Abraham Nda-Isaiah, former MD Holdings and Group GED, has been re-appointed to the Board as Director.”

 The memo described the death of the founding Chairman, Sam Nda-Isaiah, as “leaving us shocked, bereft and confounded.

“We are still recovering. However, I am of the firm belief that he is in a better place and therefore receive strength and comfort from this.

“I would like to specially thank the Management and Staff of LEADERSHIP GROUP for your thoughts, prayers and overwhelming support for me and the entire family when the Founding Chairman passed and throughout the mourning period.”

According to the new chairman, “The greatest tribute we can pay to his memory is to preserve and expand his legacy of a media and education company that truly serves God and country; one that is professionally run, promotes good governance and is courageous to speak up for the weak, vulnerable and defenseless, while jealously guarding the peaceful coexistence of the country.

“I am confident that you will continue to give these new appointees your utmost cooperation. I hope, also, that they will enjoy the confidence and respect that you accorded the Founding Chairman, for the good and greater future of the company in which we are all invested.

“Finally, I urge you all to put before you and always remember the motto the founding chairman expressed as the foundation of our great enterprise “For GOD and Country”.
