A whole host of famous faces rushed to their doors this evening to share their appreciation for Captain Tom’s incredible life after he lost his battle with Covid on Tuesday.

Katie Price and Piers Morgan have paid tribute to Captain Tom Moore by clapping for the late veteran hero.

Boris Johnson urged people to show their appreciation for Captain Tom, who died on Tuesday at the age of 100.

The applause for the fundraiser is similar to the weekly “Clap for Carers” events which took place during the first stage of the COVID-19 pandemic in the UK.

A whole host of famous faces rushed to their doors this evening to share their appreciation for Captain Tom’s incredible life, including his legacy and the £33million pounds he raised for the NHS at the beginning of the pandemic.

Taking to her Instagram Stories, Katie Price, 42, shared a video of her family clapping for Tom at their front door.

“Respect for you Tom. Rest in peace,” the former glamour model cheered alongside her beau Carl Woods and her children, Princess, Jett and Bunny.

Piers Morgan also took to Twitter to share that his neighbours were making endless noise in remembrance of the national hero.

Alongside a sweet photograph of Captain Tom, he penned: “Lots of clapping in my part of West London. Great to hear.

“Thanks for everything, Captain Tom.”

Musical superstar Rick Astley also dedicated a heartfelt post to the Captain.

“Captain Tom is a hero who’s kindness, courage & sincerity united a country around him when we needed him most,” the singer shared. “Thank you Sir for all that you have done and may you RIP.

Sharing their appreciation for the late veteran on Instagram, stars including Olivia Bentley and Sam Thompson all paid tribute.

Elsewhere, other celebs including Dr. Alex George and Amanda Holden reminded followers to clap for Tom earlier in the day.

Taking to Instagram, former Love Island star and newly appointed Minister for health Alex, wrote: “There will be a clap for Tom tonight at 6.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson led the national round of applause at 6pm from Downing Street, with the veteran’s family also taking part.

Mr Johnson told the Commons: “We all now have the opportunity to show our appreciation for him and all that he stood for and believed in.

“That is why I encourage everyone to join in a national clap for Captain Tom and all those health workers for whom he raised money at 6pm this evening.”

A second clap is also being organised for Friday.

The 100-year-old’s death has prompted reaction from around the world, after he raised more than £32 million for the NHS during the first coronavirus lockdown.

Sir Tom set out to raise £1,000 for NHS Charities Together by walking 100 laps of his garden before his 100th birthday last April – but his efforts struck a chord with the nation and donations flooded in.

In acknowledgment of his efforts, he was knighted by the Queen during a unique open-air ceremony at Windsor Castle in summer 2020.
