Businessman and social commentator, Isaac Fayose, has expressed disappointment with Nigeria’s political landscape, claiming he has been abandoned by opposition politicians after putting his life, resources, and freedom on the line for their causes.

In an emotional post he made on his social media handles, the younger brother of former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, painted himself as a “lonely voice in the wilderness.” He lamented that while he repeatedly rejected luxury bribes, including a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon and substantial cash offers, to stay loyal to the opposition struggle, the very politicians he fought for have now aligned themselves with the ruling class.

A major highlight of Fayose’s revelation centered on the just-concluded August 2026 Osun State governorship election. Isaac disclosed that while he was far away in Australia, the reelected Osun State governor, Ademola Adeleke, personally reached out to him, urging him to return and join the political advocacy team. Fayose stated that he agreed and threw his full weight behind Adeleke’s re-election campaign, only to watch the governor travel to Abuja less than a week after the election to present his Certificate of Return to President Bola Tinubu, while also to support Tinubu’s return for a second term.

“Look at Osun. This time too, as I was in Australia, the governor of Osun called me. Governor Adeleke said, ‘Isaac, we need you on board the election.’ I carried everything on my head,” Fayose recounted, adding that “six days after, the governor was in Abuja showing his return certificate to the President. I nowfeel like I am the only one left behind.”

Fayose also recounted several other political battlefronts where his loyalty left him isolated. He recalled the 2018 Ekiti State election where he stood fiercely behind his brother, even confronting the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) under its former boss, Ibrahim Magu, which he claims resulted in ongoing legal troubles meant to rope him in. Despite those sacrifices, Fayose noted that family members and allies have moved on to secure political appointments, leaving him to face his legal battles alone.

He further detailed his financial and personal sacrifices during the subsequent Ekiti State governorship race. Fayose revealed that he had to hurriedly bury his late wife just to rush back home after receiving desperate calls from political actors pleading with him to “come home and help take our state back.” According to him, the same politicians who begged for his intervention on Ekiti election eve have since reconciled and photographed themselves smiling with the presidency.

Expressing final disappointment not just in the politicians but also in the electorate, Fayose stated that even the ordinary citizens he fought for ended up selling their votes.

Reflecting on the shifting alliances of heavyweights like FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike and Governor Adeleke, Fayose concluded that his refusal to compromise has only left him looking like a “zombie in a system driven by self-interest”.
