The IUPUI Committee on African Studies in partnership with the African Political Economy Association, will on April 13, 2002, at 7 pm (West African Time) present an African film series, featuring THE NEW PATRIOTS which will be narrated by its producer Dr. Aderotimi Adelola.

The event, which will be sponsored by the Indiana University African Studies Program, National Resource Center, will be moderated by Mr. Ademola Akinbola, Publisher of The Podium International Magazine. The virtual event can be accessed via this Zoom link, https://iu.zoom.us/j/89720251388.
Prof. Dele Omosegbon, a Professor of Economics at Indiana Wesleyan University, and Chairman of the Committee at IUPUI, said the event is one of the initiatives embarked upon by IUPUI to showcase the best of African creative arts.

The New Patriots is a 2020 political drama film directed by Adebayo Tijani and Terry Ayebo. The film celebrates youth participation in the democratic process in Nigeria and similar African settings.
The film has received positive reviews from critics. It was screened at several international film festivals, including the 2020 Five Continents International Film Festival, Venezuela (It was the only feature film from Africa to be selected for that edition of the festival); 2021 Montreal Independent Film Festival, Canada; the African Film Festival (TAFF) 2021, USA, and the Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival (TIFF) 2021.
Dr. Rotimi Adelola is a Nigerian psychologist and film producer. Under the Administration of Olusegun Mimiko, he was appointed as the Secretary to the State Government of Ondo State, a position which he held from 2009 to 2017. He holds a Ph.D. in Organisational Psychology from the University of Ibadan. Earlier, he obtained M.Sc. in Psychology from the University of Lagos and a B.Sc. degree (2nd class upper) in Social Sciences from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University). Dr. Rotimi Adelola is an alumnus of the International Development Ireland, Dublin, the London Management School, and the Harvard-Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University USA.
