It was an anti-climax of sorts as Governor of Cross River State, Ben Ayade, who had earlier attempted to take a shot at the presidency, lost his bid to secure the All Progressives Congress, APC’s, ticket to run for the Northern Senatorial District of the state to a woman.

Results of the primary, which an online platform, TrackNews, claimed to have sighted showed that Mr Ayade polled 52 votes to crash out of the race. A woman, Adams Cecelia, scored 140 to emerge as the winner.

Another aspirant Martin Orim scored 61 votes.

The governor would be completing his eight years as governor of the state in 2023.

He dumped the main opposition party, PDP, in May 2021 to nurse his presidential ambition which he made known in April. He is not known to command any influence in the presidential power politics rocking the APC presently.
