Bashir el-Rufai, son of former Kaduna governor Nasir el-Rufai, says he keeps guns and knives at his bedside.

Bashir made the comment in a series of posts on X on Saturday, during an exchange about his brother, Bello el-Rufai, the lawmaker representing Kaduna-north federal constituency.

Bashir criticised Bello over his recent political moves, accusing him of abandoning the family while remaining aligned with Uba Sani, Kaduna governor and their father’s successor.

In one of the posts, Bashir alleged that Bello had told him to kill himself.

“Telling me to kill myself,” he wrote.

An X user, Nurudeen Adamz (@baldeenadamz), questioned Bello’s decision to discuss family matters on social media, saying, “If I were him, I would kpai you myself”.

Responding to the comment, Bashir said, “Let him try. I keep guns and knives at my bedside”.

Bashir also made several allegations against his brother, whom he labelled a hypocrite in another post that has since been deleted.

Bello remained in the All Progressives Congress (APC) after his father defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in March. The lawmaker eventually left the ruling party and joined his father in the ADC on May 7.

Bashir alleged that Bello remained loyal to Sani, their father’s successor, until he realised he was being “dumped”.
