“I Do Hope Mac Allister Recovers from His Fictitious Headbutt!” — Piers Morgan Mocks Liverpool Star after Arsenal’s Historic Anfield Win

Piers Morgan has sparked a huge reaction on social media after taking a sarcastic swipe at Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister following Arsenal’s historic 1-0 victory at Anfield.

And the outspoken Arsenal supporter wasn’t the only one questioning the Liverpool star’s reaction to a controversial second-half incident involving Noni Madueke.

Morgan quickly took to X, sharing an image of Mac Allister on the ground alongside a sarcastic message.

“I do hope Mac Allister recovers from his fictitious headbutt. Poor guy.”

The post attracted attention following Arsenal’s first Premier League victory at Anfield since September 2012.

But there was more to the controversy.

Madueke breaks his silence

Speaking to Viaplay after the match, Madueke suggested that Mac Allister had been attempting to provoke a reaction from him.

“He tried to bait me. It’s neither a yellow nor red card.”

The Arsenal winger was also asked whether he had attempted to exchange shirts with the Argentine midfielder after the final whistle.

His response was particularly amusing.

“No, no, no, no, no. To be honest, I wish I did.”

Madueke clearly felt that the incident did not warrant a dismissal.

And remarkably, one of Liverpool’s most famous former players agreed with him.

Carragher was frustrated by the Liverpool midfielder’s reaction and praised the decision not to send Madueke off.

“I’m delighted he never got sent off there.”

The former Liverpool defender argued that football needs to take a stronger stance against players who exaggerate contact during confrontations.

He continued:

“That’s a joke from Mac Allister but it’s got to stop.”

Carragher’s argument was that genuine headbutts should absolutely be punished, but officials must distinguish between violent conduct and minor contact during confrontations.
