Popular Mavin Records artiste, Crayon has disclosed that he abandoned his University education to do music after writing UTME five times.

During an interview with Hip TV, singer Crayon disclosed that he gave up on obtaining a university degree after writing the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) five times with no success.

He mentioned that on his fifth attempt to write the UTME exams at the University of Lagos, he left the paper halfway and left the hall.

He disclosed how he met a friend of his who was into music called Baby Fresh. According to Crayon, his friend was the one who motivated him to pursue his music career and sacrifice his University education.

On the fifth try, I had already met Baby Fresh, who used to work at Mavin. Juggling school and music simultaneously is quite stressful in Nigeria. Music alone is demanding,” he said.

“So I sat down with my parents and told them, ‘Mom and Dad, I want to pursue music.’ I explained that it felt like my heart was leading me in that direction. My dad suggested that I give the fifth try a chance, and if it didn’t work out, I could pursue music.”
