The Management of Wells Carlton Hotel and Apartments, Asokoro, Abuja, on Tuesday, July 1, cancelled the booking made for the hosting of the adoption of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) by the National Coalition of Political Opposition Movement.

The coalition is the platform being put together by key opposition figures to challenge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid come 2027.
In a notice announcing the cancellation, the hotel apologized to the event organisers, attributing the reason for cancelling the event to an “internal compliance matter”.

The hotel management said of the cancellation; “We sincerely regret to inform you that due to an internal compliance matter that has just come to our attention, we are unable to proceed with hosting your scheduled event.
“We are fully aware that the event is less than 24 hours away, and we deeply apologise for the timing and inconvenience this may cause.”
Following the unfortunate development, organisers of the coalition, led by former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and former Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi, among others, quickly mobilized and relocated the event to an alternative venue.
Determined to go ahead with the event, National Chairman of ADC, Senator David Mark, announced Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja as the new venue for the event scheduled to hold by 2:00pm on Wednesday.
The adoption of the ADC by members of the coalition followed suspicion that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would likely not register the newly formed All Democratic Alliance (ADA) in time to meet electoral deadlines.
