Proverbs 22:29 states “Seest thou a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.” This biblical passage is the perfect reflection of Chairman Police Service Commission, Dr. Solomon Ehigiator Arase CFR, who clocks 67 today, Wednesday, June 21, 2023.
Truly, the 67th birthday of the former Inspector-General of Nigeria Police is worth celebrating considering how he has made meaningful impacts in public service, especially in the task of protecting lives and properties of the citizenry as well as in intelligence gathering, monitoring, processing and management.
He is truly a leader who believes in putting smiles on the faces of others; someone who is passionate and empathetic towards people around him.
In his current national assignment as Chairman of Police Service Commission he has equally displayed uncommon leadership feats and putting the commission on the right track to meeting its policy thrust.
So far, Dr. Arase’s action, is largely putting personal touch to governance and has set the Police on the right path to greater Nigeria through the introduction of many innovative reforms.
He however believes that an occasion of one’s birthday, especially a milestone such as the age of 67, should be a day to reflect on one’s purpose of existence in life and, this according to him, is “to serve the humanity”.
He has always chosen the path of honour and genuine love for the needy in the society since his childhood days.
It is against the backdrop of these experiential demonstrations of respect not condescension; affection, not affectation, that I have considered and applauded Dr. Arase’s self-effacement in the entire gamut of social interactions.
In celebrating his 67th birthday Dr. Arase’s phenomenal acts of giving and ministering to the needs of others must be duly emphasized, he fulfilled God’s commandment of giving to the poor-and he extended that gesture even to the rich-and qualified for a just recompense in the way and manner only God Himself has deemed appropriate.
Sir, I sincerely salute your selfless and unwavering commitment to humanity and astonishing accomplishments as you strike 67 today. You are a legend, an icon, a great administrator, consummate professional, a respected nationalist, and a man of distinction.
As you celebrate a major major milestone today, I wish you the fulfilment of your heart’s desires for the greater good of the people of Nigeria. Congratulations sir.
