Security forces have rescued 15 pupils after gunmen raided an orphanage and school in Zariagi, near Kabba Junction in Lokoja, late on April 26, Kogi State Government said Monday.
The attackers abducted 23 pupils and the wife of the proprietor, according to TVC News.
Commissioner for Information Kingsley Fanwo confirmed the rescue, crediting “swift, coordinated efforts” by security operatives. “Security operatives acted promptly, and their coordinated efforts led to the safe rescue of 15 pupils,” he said in a statement.

Fanwo said operations are underway to free the remaining victims and arrest those behind the attack.
He identified the facility as Dahallukitab Group of Schools and alleged it was running illegally. “The school was reportedly running illegally in a secluded area without the knowledge of relevant authorities, which exposed it to security threats,” Fanwo said.
He praised the Nigeria Police and other agencies for their rapid response and warned against setting up unregistered schools and orphanages in remote, vulnerable locations.
